The history behind that position is instructive. In mid-2024, Musk directed Nvidia to divert thousands of AI accelerators originally reserved for Tesla toward his X and xAI ventures, a decision that raised pointed governance questions about which entity in the Musk portfolio gets first call on scarce compute. Second, how quickly Terafab moves from announcement to permitting and groundbreaking — advanced-node semiconductor fabs carry multi-year lead times, and the execution record on comparably ambitious greenfield projects is mixed.
