Applied Digital and IREN saw stock gains of 6% as capital markets increasingly price digital infrastructure assets beyond traditional Bitcoin mining, while Core Scientific rose 4%.

This valuation shift reflects growing investor confidence in crypto-mining operators successfully pivoting to AI compute hosting, expanding the available GPU cloud capacity pipeline.

The rally that lifted Bitcoin miners earlier this month is now expanding into the artificial intelligence data center segment of these same companies, driven primarily by hyperscaler and GPU customers. Broad technology indices are barely moving, with the Invesco QQQ Trust (NASDAQ:QQQ) up just 0.43% to $709.38 on Tuesday afternoon.

Applied Digital (NASDAQ:APLD) rose 6% to $28.48 by midday, emerging as the purest data center play in the group and the least dependent on Bitcoin economics. IREN Limited (NASDAQ:IREN) also climbed 6% to $42.04, matching Applied Digital’s gain despite its larger market capitalization.

Core Scientific (NASDAQ:CORZ) gained 4% to $17.93, providing clear evidence of the sector’s pivot from mining to AI as the company converts legacy capacity into high-density colocation. Cipher Mining (NASDAQ:CIFR) is participating in the same thematic rally.

There has been no verified same-day announcement to drive Applied Digital’s move, suggesting today’s advance is a technical bounce riding the broader digital infrastructure bid. The stock had declined 14% over the preceding week through Monday’s close, leaving ample room for a rebound alongside its peers.

IREN Limited is benefiting from the momentum of its NVIDIA (NASDAQ:NVDA | NVDA Price Prediction) AI Cloud partnership, while Core Scientific is supported by anchor commitments from Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ:AMD) and CoreWeave (NASDAQ:CRWV). Meanwhile, Cipher Mining is repurposing its Black Pearl campus for high-performance computing (HPC) colocation, adding a fourth player to the group with contracted compute revenue on the horizon. (For context, we profiled seven power, cooling, and networking suppliers behind this infrastructure buildout in a complimentary report: *7 Stocks Powering the AI Boom*.)

Core Scientific designs, builds, and operates large-scale data centers tailored for high-density colocation serving AI and compute-intensive workloads, actively repurposing its remaining mining facilities to support this transition. Its anchor colocation clients include CoreWeave, which holds roughly 590 MW under 12-year take-or-pay contracts, and AMD, securing approximately 530 MW under 15-year agreements.

Total leased customer power capacity at Core Scientific stands at roughly 1.1 GW across seven U.S. states, backed by more than $24 billion in total potential contracted revenue from existing customer commitments. This robust contracted-revenue foundation distinguishes Core Scientific from Bitcoin-first operators still heavily reliant on hash rate economics.

Applied Digital sits at the opposite end of the spectrum, structured from its Polaris Forge design onward as a direct-to-chip liquid-cooled AI campus operator. IREN Limited occupies a middle ground, maintaining a Bitcoin mining base that continues to fund its AI Cloud expansion.

Through Monday’s close, Applied Digital was up 10% year to date (YTD), IREN Limited was up 5% YTD, and Core Scientific was up 19% YTD. All three lagged the QQQ ETF, which gained 15% YTD over the same period.

Analyst price targets remain well above current trading levels, with consensus estimates set at $74.23 for Applied Digital, $37.12 for Core Scientific, and $32.18 for Cipher Mining. Investors should monitor whether Tuesday’s gains sustain through the close, particularly if QQQ shares continue to trade sideways.

Investors positioning themselves in this trade should account for elevated volatility. Applied Digital carries a beta of 5.77, while Core Scientific sits at 5.59, meaning even modest position sizes can generate outsized daily swings. Traders would do well to watch for additional hyperscaler contract announcements, which have historically triggered the most significant reratings within this group.
