Kodiak Gas Services will supply 76 MW of behind-the-meter natural gas power to a West Texas data center via 40 reciprocating generator units.

Texas-based Kodiak Gas Services has signed a six-year contract to supply 76MW of behind-the-meter power to a data center in West Texas. The company, based just outside Houston, will deploy approximately 40 natural gas-fueled reciprocating generators with balance-of-plant systems.

According to Kodiak, the data center operator has secured a contract with an investment-grade hyperscaler, backed by a GPU designer guaranteeing the lease. The identities of these parties remain undisclosed.

Deployment is scheduled to begin in Q4 2026 and scale through Q1 2027.

"Today's announcement represents an ideal situation for us," said Mickey McKee, Kodiak's president and CEO. "The size fits our available power fleet, the location is within our established operational footprint in West Texas, and the customer has strong commercial and financial support."

This marks Kodiak's second long-term contract to supply primary power to a data center. The company provides compression services, distributed power, and energy infrastructure to oil and gas producers, midstream operators, and data center developers and operators. Kodiak is targeting 2GW of generation capacity by 2030 and views this deal as a replicable model providing "a clear path toward contracting additional power capacity," McKee said.
