Data center operator Core Scientific (NASDAQ: CORZ) has received conditional ERCOT approvals covering up to 1,402 MW of electrical power across three Texas sites, the company disclosed in an 8-K filing on Thursday. The total comprises 371 MW at Denton, 600 MW at Pecos, and 431 MW in Hunt County.

At the Denton facility, Core Scientific secured conditional base-load approval for 297 MW of existing capacity energized before March 25, 2022, plus an additional 74 MW to be brought online. The latter was previously validated through ERCOT's 2025 Regional Transmission Plan study cases, placing neither portion within Batch Zero allocation.

The Pecos site received conditional base-load approval for 300 MW of existing load. Core Scientific submitted required documentation, posted collateral, and designated a second 300 MW tranche as studied load. Its final allocation and ramp schedule will be determined after Batch Zero concludes. This 600 MW covers only part of the company's broader vision for Pecos: Core Scientific is targeting approximately 1.5 GW of gross power and 1 GW of leasable power at the campus, planning to bridge any shortfall through behind-the-meter generation on-site.

In Hunt County, Core Scientific's planned 431 MW facility received conditional base-load treatment under ERCOT's advancing-large-load pathway. The company and its utility partner have completed interconnection studies, obtained approval for the stability study, posted collateral, and begun construction after ordering long-lead equipment.

ERCOT established Batch Zero to evaluate qualified loads of at least 75 MW and allocate available grid capacity. When Texas regulators approved the process in June, the grid operator had logged more than 438,000 MW in large-load requests, with nearly 89% originating from data centers. Results for studied loads—including Pecos's additional 300 MW—are expected in spring 2027.
