Core Scientific (NASDAQ: CORZ) received conditional classification for 1,031 megawatts of existing and planned power capacity at its Pecos and Hunt data-center sites under Texas's new Batch Zero grid-review process, according to an SEC filing released Thursday. The remaining 371 megawatts at Denton fall outside this allocation exercise.
The Batch Zero process, introduced by the Electric Reliability Council of Texas, represents a shift in how the grid evaluates large electricity users. Rather than assessing individual interconnection requests separately, Batch Zero evaluates the combined impact of qualifying large facilities on grid reliability and allocates available transmission capacity accordingly. The transitional process took effect on July 11.
At its Pecos facility, Core Scientific's existing 300 megawatts received conditional base-load status under a pathway covering facilities that came online between March 25, 2022 and July 10, 2026. An additional 300 megawatts at Pecos received conditional "Studied Load" status, with final allocation and ramp schedule pending until Batch Zero concludes. The company submitted all required documentation and paid the necessary collateral.
Core Scientific's Hunt site received approval for 431 megawatts of planned capacity under Pathway (e), designated for large loads advancing toward commercial operation. Construction has commenced at the site following stability study approval and collateral posting.
Denton's 297 megawatt and 74 megawatt loads are exempt from the Batch Zero process.
