AWS와 Humain은 2028년까지 사우디 AI 존에 50MW의 용량을 구축하기로 약속했으며, 클라우드 리전 개시는 2026년 12월을 목표로 하고 있다.

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has confirmed that it will partner with Humain to bring the first 50 megawatts (MW) of capacity online at the Saudi Arabia AI Zone by 2028. The two companies initially unveiled plans for the Riyadh-based initiative in May 2025, pledging approximately $5 billion toward the effort. At that time, no construction timelines were provided. By November 2025, they revealed that the site would deploy roughly 150,000 AI chips, including Nvidia’s GB300 processors and AWS’ Trainium accelerators.

During the LEAP event in Riyadh in late August, AWS announced that the initial 50 MW would be operational by 2028. The company also confirmed that its first local cloud region remains on schedule to launch by December 2026. AWS originally outlined plans for the $5.3 billion cloud region in March 2024.

“Saudi Arabia is home to some of the most ambitious and inventive builders, from startups and enterprises reimagining industries to public sector organizations deploying AI at scale, and the new AWS region in the country will help them to continue to innovate,” said Matt Garman, CEO of AWS. “The launch of our new Region and our partnership with Humain will deliver the full-stack cloud and AI infrastructure to help power new industries, create jobs, and accelerate the goals of Vision 2030.”

The expansion comes amid broader operational challenges for AWS across the Middle East. Its Bahrain data centers have been repeatedly damaged during the Iran War, and the company’s UAE cloud region has remained severely impacted since the start of March 2026. As of this writing, AWS continues to list the UAE region as “disrupted.”
