Liberty Global's investment arm has joined an $875 million funding round for Positron AI, an inference computing company, expanding its AI portfolio.
Liberty Global Tech Ventures co-led the round alongside NEA and Valor Equity Systems, valuing the startup at $5 billion.
Founded in 2023, Positron AI develops hardware and software for AI inference—the computational stage where models process requests and generate outputs. The company's architecture is designed to reduce total cost of ownership and accelerate request processing by addressing memory bottlenecks in AI inference systems.
Oracle is among Positron AI's customers.
Bobbie Maltiel, a partner at Liberty Global Tech Ventures, highlighted the market opportunity emerging from hyperscale companies' growing inference compute demands. According to industry analysis published in December 2025, the inference sector is projected to reach $1.3 trillion by 2032. "The Positron team have a relentless focus on this," Maltiel said, "and we are delighted to be joining them on their mission to deliver high-speed AI at the lowest possible cost to businesses and consumers."
Positron AI joins Higgsfield, XBOW, Legora, and ElevenLabs in Liberty Global's AI portfolio. Overall, the group maintains approximately 70 company and fund investments valued at $3.4 billion.
