EdgeConneX expands into Indonesia with plans for a hyperscale data center campus.

EdgeConneX has announced the acquisition of GTN Data Center in Indonesia, marking its ninth market in Asia either established or under development. GTN, strategically located in Bekasi Cikarang near Jakarta, has operated a Tier 3 certified data center since 2016. The facility was established as a joint venture between Japan's Mitsui and PT Multipolar Technology, part of Indonesian conglomerate Lippo Group. In addition to acquiring the operating facility, EdgeConneX has purchased an adjacent plot of land, positioning the companies to develop a hyperscale data center campus capable of ultimately supporting more than 90 MWs of capacity.

This acquisition represents the third major country in Asia that EdgeConneX has entered as part of its global expansion strategy, following announcements of AdaniConneX, a pan-Indian data center platform developed through a joint venture, and a strategic investment in Chayora, a leading data center operator in China. GTN's carrier-neutral facility currently supports over 50 customers within its nearly 7MW facility, which features reliable, scalable, and diverse power sources alongside a 100% SLA record.

Jakarta presents a significant market opportunity, with Structure Research forecasting the data center market will reach nearly $650 million by 2026, with nearly two-thirds of that demand coming from hyperscalers. The region is witnessing rapid growth driven by cloud adoption, and providing high-quality, reliable hyperscale digital infrastructure is essential to support Indonesia's digital transformation and its role as a regional gateway.
