Era Media Sejahtera has signed MoUs for 2 GW of solar and 1.6 GW of AI data center projects.
PT Era Media Sejahtera (IDX: DOOH) is expanding into renewable energy and artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure through three preliminary agreements with Chinese partners. The agreements cover solar power projects of up to 2 gigawatts (GW) and an AI data center campus with planned capacity of up to 1.6 GW in West Java.
The company signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) with Jiangxi Jiusheng International Electric Power Engineering Co. Ltd., China Construction Third Engineering Bureau Group Co. Ltd. (CSCEC Third Bureau), and GOME FinTech Asset Management Holdings Ltd. in Wuhan, China, on October 19, according to a company statement issued on October 22.
The agreements cover solar power equipment and grid interconnection facilities, construction of the AI data center campus, and a planned lease of 50 megawatts (MW) of information technology (IT) capacity.
"The AI industry needs three things simultaneously: energy, facilities, and users. Through these three MoUs, the company is beginning to bring all three together in one ecosystem," Era Media Sejahtera authorized representative Ma Lei said in the statement received by Indonesia Business Post.
**Solar projects target 2 GW capacity**
Under its agreement with Jiangxi Jiusheng, Era Media Sejahtera plans to procure equipment, materials and grid interconnection facilities for solar power projects in Indonesia, with a targeted capacity of up to 2,000 MW.
Development is expected to proceed in phases, beginning with 300 MW of alternating-current capacity (MWac), equivalent to 390 megawatts-peak (MWp) of solar generation capacity.
Jiangxi Jiusheng CEO Li Guofan said the company would supply the equipment and infrastructure needed to support the project's development.
"As a procurement partner, Jiangxi Jiusheng is committed to providing reliable equipment, materials and interconnection facilities so that this solar power plant can become a source of clean energy for Era Media's AI data center, starting with the initial 300 MWac phase and eventually reaching 2 GW," Li said.
The planned solar projects are intended to support the electricity requirements of Era Media Sejahtera's proposed AI data center operations, linking renewable energy generation with the development of digital infrastructure.
**AI data center campus planned for West Java**
Era Media Sejahtera also signed an MoU with CSCEC Third Bureau for the phased construction of an AI data center campus in West Java, with planned capacity of up to 1.6 GW. The initial phase is expected to provide 50 MW of IT capacity.
The agreement covers design coordination, construction management, and mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) works, which are critical to the power distribution, cooling and other building systems required to operate data center servers.
CSCEC Third Bureau Deputy Party Secretary and General Manager Liu Peng said the company was prepared to support the project with its construction and infrastructure expertise.
"Drawing on CSCEC's experience in building construction and infrastructure projects across various countries, CSCEC Third Bureau is ready to support Era Media through design coordination, construction management and MEP work to build a world-class AI data center campus in West Java," Liu said.
Era Media Sejahtera cited West Java's proximity to Jakarta, Indonesia's main hub for digital services demand, as well as its fiber-optic networks and electricity infrastructure, as factors behind the planned location.
**GOME FinTech plans 50 MW capacity lease**
Under the third MoU, GOME FinTech would potentially lease 50 MW of IT capacity at the planned AI data center.
The capacity is expected to be delivered in phases through 2027, in line with the development schedule for the initial phase of the West Java campus.
Wei Lai, GOME FinTech's authorized representative and chief strategy officer of Tong Tong AI Social Group Ltd., said the planned lease would support the group's AI business expansion in the region.
"The planned 50 MW lease is an initial step in supporting the development of our group's AI business in the region," Wei said.
The proposed lease would provide a prospective customer for part of the campus's planned capacity as Era Media Sejahtera develops the project's energy supply and physical infrastructure.
The three MoUs remain preliminary and do not yet establish all the terms required to implement the projects. According to the company, investment values, implementation schedules, capacity milestones, detailed project locations, lease durations and other provisions will be determined in definitive agreements.
The company added that the MoUs could be converted into definitive agreements only after approval from state-owned electricity company PT PLN (Persero).
