G42 plans to explore an AI factory in Greece with the Copelouzos Group.
G42, an Abu Dhabi-based technology holding group, and its portfolio companies have signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with the Greek government and private sector partners. These agreements cover AI infrastructure, government services, and smart cities in Greece. In a press release, G42 stated that the agreements extend its Intelligence Grid proposition into Greece.
The Intelligence Grid aims to make intelligence as accessible and reliable as electricity. It integrates the full AI value chain, from data centers and advanced compute to cloud infrastructure and industry-specific applications. The goal is to enable governments, businesses, and societies to harness AI at scale.
AI Factory Development
Under agreements with Copelouzos Group, a major infrastructure investor in Greece, UAE's Khazna Data Centers and Core42 will explore developing an AI factory. This factory would combine advanced data center infrastructure with AI cloud and compute capabilities. Khazna Data Centers would lead the physical infrastructure development.
Core42 would provide cloud and AI compute capabilities to support organizations in the banking, telecommunications, shipping, and government sectors. Christos Copelouzos, CEO of Copelouzos Group, said the partnership strengthens Greece's position as a strategic digital and energy hub in Southeast Europe.
Government and Education Applications
Another G42 group company, Presight, will collaborate with Greece's Ministry of Digital Governance on smart city initiatives. The companies will explore deploying AI-powered urban analytics and real-time intelligence for public safety, urban mobility, and municipal operations. The initial focus includes intelligent analytics for municipal waste management and water-network monitoring.
Inception42 will work with Greece's Ministry of Digital Governance & Artificial Intelligence to explore agentic AI applications in government and education. These include AI-powered tools for cabinet meetings, training government officials, and developing AI tutors. Dimitris Papastergiou, Greece's Minister of Digital Governance & Artificial Intelligence, noted that AI can make cities smarter and safer.
Thomas Pramotedham, CEO of Presight, said that turning city data into intelligence improves how cities function. Ashish Koshy, CEO of Inception42, added that AI delivers value when built into institutions and used by equipped people. The parties will define scope and timelines, subject to definitive agreements and regulatory approvals.
