Team Group, Nvidia, and Firebird announced a $500 million regional supercomputing hub project for AI infrastructure development.

On June 11, 2025, at Viva Technology, Europe's largest startup and tech conference held in Yerevan, a nearly $500 million investment project was officially presented. The Government of the Republic of Armenia, NVIDIA, Firebird, and Team Group announced a strategic collaboration to build the region's most powerful Supercomputing Hub and data processing center, powered by artificial intelligence solutions. NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang stated that "AI factories are the infrastructure of the 21st century," further noting that "Our collaboration with Armenia will help build foundational AI capacity and unlock new opportunities for innovation and economic growth across the region."

The supercomputing hub will launch in 2026 with thousands of NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs and is designed with the ability to scale to over 100 megawatts of capacity. Team Group of Companies, which manages Armenia's leading national telecommunications operator Team Telecom Armenia, as well as Ireland's Imagine Broadband, and holds a shareholding in Georgia's SkyTel, will leverage its communication infrastructure expertise to bring the large-scale project to life in the country. According to co-founder Alexandr Yesayan, "We are honored to participate in the implementation of this large-scale initiative of strategic importance, investing our many years of experience and resources in the technological sector. Our participation reflects our readiness to make Armenia a global center for information technologies, artificial intelligence solutions, and the digital future."

Firebird.ai co-founder and CEO Razmig Hovaghimian described the initiative as "about building a launchpad for innovation - from Armenia to the world." He further elaborated that "We will invest in novel models, in robotics and the sciences, in partnership with leading universities from around the world, and build the capacity to incubate the next generation of innovators in Armenia." The Afeyan Foundation for Armenia will join as a founding investor, with Noubar Afeyan—principal of the Afeyan Foundation and CEO of Flagship Pioneering—serving as strategic advisor and founding partner of Firebird.

Afeyan observed that "Armenia's next chapter in technology leadership will be built on global collaboration and long-term investment," noting that "The development of AI infrastructure for Armenia and the broader region is a bold step toward positioning the country as a meaningful contributor in the global AI landscape." U.S. Ambassador to Armenia Kristina Kvien expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating "We are excited about the potential for U.S. technology exports and AI leadership to drive more innovation in Armenia's dynamic tech sector, benefitting the United States and Armenia." She further noted that "U.S. companies like NVIDIA continue to offer world-leading computing and AI solutions, and we are proud that they are the partners of choice for Armenian counterparts."
