NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang is set to visit the European Union with Germany as his first destination, where he will meet with local leaders and announce a large-scale AI project. According to media outlet Handelsblatt, Huang is expected to meet with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in Berlin. This visit represents NVIDIA's strategic pivot toward government-backed organizations, a shift evidenced by the company's recent multi-billion-dollar contracts with state-backed companies in the Middle East.

The centerpiece of Huang's EU visit will be the unveiling of a mega datacenter in Germany. The facility will utilize 100,000 of NVIDIA's high-end chips, with each unit priced at approximately $30,000, bringing the project's estimated cost to around $3 billion for equipment alone. This project marks Germany's biggest AI venture and represents another billion-dollar contract for NVIDIA in the region.

Beyond Germany, Huang's European tour will include stops in the United Kingdom, where he will appear at Tech Week, and in Paris, France, where he will be a featured guest at Vivatech technology conference. During the EU tour, Team Green is expected to announce multiple projects focused on developing AI infrastructure across the region.

NVIDIA's strategic expansion across the Middle East, EU, and America demonstrates the company's broader commitment to building AI infrastructure worldwide. With the EU facing the constraint that it has no alternative to NVIDIA for its chip needs, the company has successfully positioned itself as critical to the region's efforts to catch up in the global AI race. This infrastructure development is expected to achieve significance comparable to internet infrastructure or essential public amenities.
