Nvidia (NASDAQ:NVDA), the undisputed leader in artificial-intelligence accelerators, declined approximately 1.4% to $217.76 on Tuesday morning as Texas regulators began separating viable data-center projects from speculative grid applications. The stakes are enormous. Electricity requests across parts of the United States now exceed 700 gigawatts—more than ten times the estimated current consumption of data centers.

Texas has frozen new grid connections while officials audit developers. Utilities in other markets are demanding upfront payments or proof that proposed sites are actually controlled. Nvidia’s near-term momentum, however, remains strong. Second-quarter results delivered $96.2 billion in revenue, including a staggering $89 billion from data centers. Management then guided for approximately $108 billion in revenue for the following quarter.

Here lies the pressure point: Nvidia is selling chips today, but the 700-gigawatt pipeline represents tomorrow’s expectations. Removing speculative projects could give investors a cleaner view of genuine AI demand. The GF Score of 95 out of 100 backs the bull case, with profitability, growth, and financial strength doing the heavy lifting, while valuation remains the obvious weak spot. If too much projected capacity vanishes, Nvidia’s $5.3 trillion valuation could suddenly face a much tougher reality check.
