AMD confirms TSMC will manufacture its next-generation 7nm processors (Ryzen and Radeon) for both CPU and GPU.

AMD has announced that it will manufacture all of its 7nm processors with TSMC instead of its long-time partner GlobalFoundries, which is shifting its strategic focus. The company's 7nm product portfolio covers AMD's Zen 2 CPU core and the Navi GPU architecture, both of which are critical to AMD's strategy to compete against Intel and Nvidia across various data center workloads.

AMD stated that it has already been collaborating with TSMC on 7nm manufacturing, including the company's first 7nm GPU scheduled to launch in 2018 and its first 7nm server CPU due to launch in 2019. The shift consolidates AMD's advanced node production with TSMC while GlobalFoundries will continue to manufacture the company's current generation of Ryzen, Radeon, and EPYC processors using 14nm and 12nm technologies.
