Chinese GPU vendor Xintao Semiconductor completes ¥550 million ($75M equiv) strategic funding to advance domestic processor roadmap.
According to Shandao Venture Capital, Xintong Semiconductor Technology (Xiamen) Co., Ltd. has completed a 550 million yuan strategic financing round led exclusively by Dashengda, an A-share listed company. The transaction was structured as a combination of equity transfer and capital increase, with funds fully settled.
Xintong Semiconductor has spent seventeen years developing proprietary general-purpose GPUs and is among a limited number of domestic GPU providers simultaneously operating across three major sectors: general-purpose computing, AI computing power, and professional graphics rendering. The company has built a complete native GPU software stack, with products matching international high-end offerings on core performance metrics including memory bandwidth, ray tracing, and AI tensor acceleration. Its solutions integrate with mainstream deep learning frameworks and 3D rendering engines, delivering fully domestically-controlled computing chip solutions to cloud and edge customers while helping address gaps in China's high-performance graphics computing supply chain.
An Xintong executive outlined how the 550 million yuan will be deployed across four priorities: advancing high-end GPU chip iterations and moving next-generation process nodes to production; completing the full-stack GPU software ecosystem to improve software-hardware compatibility; establishing a stable, scalable chip delivery system to enable mass production; and recruiting core talent in chip research and supply chain management to strengthen the foundation for sustained innovation, leveraging capital to accelerate commercialization of the domestic GPU platform.
Dashengda's leadership characterized the investment as a long-term strategic commitment to the domestic GPU market. They cited Xintong's decade-plus of GPU development, performance metrics capable of delivering genuine domestic substitution, and market reach across computing, AI, and professional rendering—sectors with substantial growth runways. The company's proprietary integrated software and hardware ecosystem creates competitive barriers, its team brings proven chip design and industrialization experience, and the timing aligns with China's sustained policy emphasis on computing power autonomy.
Wang Shuai, founder of Shandao Venture Capital, noted that domestic integrated circuit support policies continue to drive investment, with traditional industrial companies entering the chip sector demonstrating diverse market dynamism. He emphasized that industrial capital must manage operations carefully and fulfill investment responsibilities diligently. While Xintong's sustained work in the domestic GPU sector is commendable and the sector offers extended growth potential, high-end chip development remains lengthy and ecosystem development challenging, requiring sustained industry effort and cross-sector collaboration to build a robust domestic computing power ecosystem.
