Bloom Energy (BE) is facing renewed scrutiny following a new securities class action lawsuit alleging the company understated its reliance on Chinese-sourced scandium, raising questions about disclosure practices and supply chain transparency.

The stock has shown sharp volatility around these disclosures. Over the past 30 days, shares are down 28.9%, yet the company still posts strong year-to-date gains and significant one-year total shareholder returns. Bulls point to Bloom Energy's rapid revenue and earnings progress alongside a substantial data center order book. Bears focus on disclosure risks and the recent pullback, creating a fundamental disagreement about the company's trajectory.

At a last close of $205.81, analyst consensus points to a fair value of $263.65, implying a meaningful valuation gap if current assumptions hold.

The bullish case centers on surging demand for AI and cloud data center power, which is driving urgent capacity needs. Bloom Energy's established partnerships with hyperscalers—including Oracle, AWS, and Coralogix—are accelerating adoption of its fuel cell technology as a resilient, on-site power alternative. This dynamic is expected to support sustained revenue growth and improve earnings visibility. The bull narrative hinges on aggressive revenue expansion, significantly higher margins, and a richer earnings multiple than current levels.

However, material risks remain. Bloom Energy's reliance on natural gas-based fuel cells and execution risk around expanding manufacturing capacity could undermine the optimistic scenario.

On valuation multiples, the picture differs from DCF analysis. The stock trades at a price-to-sales ratio of 19.5x, compared with 2.6x for the broader US electrical industry and 6.6x for peers, yet sits below a fair multiple of 21.3x. This raises the question of whether the premium fairly reflects AI data center expectations or represents excessive optimism already priced in.

Bloom Energy manufactures, designs, sells, and installs solid oxide fuel cell systems for on-site power generation in the United States and internationally.
