구 암호화폐 마이닝 스타트업 벨라우라 AI는 초저전력 AI 하드웨어 제품 개발을 위해 1억 1,000만 달러를 조달하며 기업 가치를 10억 달러 이상으로 평가받았다.
Former cryptomining-turned-AI-hardware startup Velaura AI has raised $110 million in a Series A financing round, bringing its total valuation above $1 billion. Announced last month, the round was led by Seligman Ventures, with participation from new investor Capricorn Investment Group alongside existing backers Mayfield, Maverick Silicon, MARA, Premji Invest, Samsung Catalyst Fund, and StepStone Group.
Based in Silicon Valley, Velaura will use the proceeds to accelerate the development and commercialization of its ultra-low-power silicon and software portfolio, which includes the Titan Core silicon IP and design platform. Launched in March 2026, Velaura claims the offering reduces overall chip power consumption for AI accelerators by up to two times, delivering power savings of up to 500 watts on a typical 1,000-watt GPU or XPU.
“Every advance in AI, from reasoning models to embodied intelligence, creates demand for more compute, and ultimately more power,” said Rajiv Khemani, co-founder and CEO of Velaura AI. “The next era of AI will be defined not only by better models, but also by fundamentally better compute economics. Velaura is building the ultra-low-power silicon and software foundation needed to scale AI from hyperscale data centers to intelligent machines operating in the physical world.”
Founded in 2022 as Auradine, the company rebranded to Velaura AI in March 2026 after pivoting its focus to energy-efficient silicon solutions and ultra-low-power AI compute. As Auradine, it sold servers specifically designed for Bitcoin mining, offering a hardware portfolio built around air, water, and immersion cooling technologies. During that phase, the company raised $153 million in a Series C funding round in April 2025.
Prior to founding Auradine, Khemani established and led networking startup Innovium, following his tenure as chief operating officer at fabless semiconductor company Cavium, which was acquired by Marvell in 2018. In January 2025, Auradine announced that Lip-Bu Tan had joined its board of directors. Tan was subsequently appointed CEO of Intel in March of that same year.
