As of late July, Anthropic’s annualized revenue run rate surpassed $65 billion, reflecting a more than sevenfold increase since the close of 2025, according to Bloomberg. The company relayed these figures to investors during a routine update. Preliminary second-quarter revenue exceeded $11.5 billion, a sharp rise from $787 million a year earlier, with the firm also reporting positive adjusted operating income for the period, Bloomberg noted.

According to CNBC, Anthropic has filed confidentially for an initial public offering and is coordinating with Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs Group, and JPMorgan Chase on the listing. Trading could commence as early as this fall, potentially placing the company in public markets ahead of OpenAI. While investor outreach is ongoing, no official offering timeline has been established.

These metrics support Anthropic’s $965 billion valuation, established following a May funding round. Based on the latest disclosed data, Anthropic now surpasses OpenAI, whose run rate stands at $40 billion, according to Axios. Industry observers note, however, that the two firms may utilize different revenue accounting methods.

This expansion occurs alongside significant operational challenges. In June, the Pentagon classified Anthropic as a supply-chain risk following a dispute over AI safety guardrails—a designation the company cautioned could eliminate billions in projected revenue. Additionally, Anthropic temporarily removed Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5, two of its most advanced models, to comply with a government export control directive, CNBC reported. Access was reinstated after approximately two weeks, with the company stating its intent to further strengthen government partnerships.

Anthropic’s run rate has accelerated steadily throughout the year. After registering approximately $9 billion at the end of 2025, the figure surpassed $30 billion in April and $47 billion in May. Compared to the $4.73 billion generated in the first quarter, the second-quarter outcome reflects a sequential increase of more than 140%, according to Axios.
