US 반독점 규제 당국은 Nvidia의 Hugging Face 인수 계획과 판매 관행을 검토하고 있으며, 법무부는 이 오픈소스 플랫폼 인수 건을 조사 중이다.
US antitrust officials are examining Nvidia's planned acquisition of Hugging Face, the open-source AI platform. According to two sources cited by Reuters, Justice Department officials are asking whether the purchase could give Nvidia control over a key hub for distributing AI and harm its competitors. The deal is valued at $12.93 billion, and Nvidia expects it to close in the first half of 2027. The company says Hugging Face will continue to support partnerships with a range of chip, cloud, and AI providers.
At the same time, US antitrust regulators are investigating Nvidia's acquisitions, investments, sales practices, and possible pressure on customers. The probe began under Joe Biden and has continued under Donald Trump. According to the sources, officials have also looked at Nvidia's acquisitions of SchedMD and Run:ai, as well as its licensing deal with Groq. They are also checking whether Nvidia offered customers more AI chips if they also bought Nvidia networking equipment and Groq processors.
Nvidia is also facing scrutiny in Europe. France's competition authority is investigating the company over alleged anticompetitive business practices. The regulator is concerned about the industry's dependence on Nvidia's CUDA programming software and about Nvidia's stakes in cloud providers such as CoreWeave. It has pointed to possible risks, including supply restrictions, unfair contract terms, and discrimination against certain customers.
