오픈에이아이, 전용 AI 데이터센터 확보 및 개발을 위해 55억 달러 규모의 자금 조달 패키지를 확보했다.
OpenAI is securing an unusually large financial incentive as firms compete to meet its rapidly expanding demand for computing capacity. According to a Wall Street Journal report, SB Energy has issued OpenAI warrants valued at approximately $5.5 billion to secure the artificial intelligence company as a major data center customer.
The scale of the package underscores OpenAI’s critical importance to developers building out AI infrastructure. These warrants grant the holder the right to purchase equity under predetermined terms, potentially allowing OpenAI to capture financial upside if SB Energy’s valuation increases. The relationship already extends beyond a conventional customer agreement: OpenAI previously invested roughly $500 million in SB Energy, while Nvidia has committed approximately $3 billion to the venture.
For SB Energy, landing OpenAI guarantees long-term demand for projects that require billions of dollars in upfront investment. For OpenAI, the structure could lower the effective cost of securing the enormous amount of power and data center capacity needed to train and operate increasingly advanced models.
This arrangement demonstrates how AI infrastructure deals are evolving beyond simple leases and supply contracts. As OpenAI expands toward the public markets, investors will increasingly monitor how these complex agreements affect its spending requirements, ownership stakes, and long-term computing costs.
