Anthropic, Lambda와 350억 달러 규모의 클라우드 계약 체결, 텍사스 데이터센터 부지 활용
AI lab Anthropic has signed a $35 billion cloud capacity agreement with neocloud Lambda, according to a Wall Street Journal report citing sources familiar with the matter. The agreement covers 350 megawatts (MW) of capacity at a data center under development in Nueces County, Texas. Nvidia will hold the lease on the facility, per the WSJ. DCD has contacted Lambda for comment.
The Nueces County campus, dubbed “Beacon Point,” is being developed by Hut 8, a cryptocurrency mining and high-performance computing (HPC) data center developer. Spanning 525 acres near Corpus Christi, the site targets initial energization in the first quarter of 2027. Hut 8 aims to deliver a total of 1 gigawatt (GW) of capacity across the campus. In July 2026, Hut 8 announced it had doubled a lease with an unnamed hyperscale customer, adding 352 MW to the arrangement and bringing that customer’s total committed capacity to 704 MW.
Anthropic already maintains an indirect relationship with Hut 8 through its River Bend data center campus in Louisiana. That site is slated to be leased to Fluidstack, which will subsequently offer the capacity to Anthropic—a transaction backed by Google. The announcement of Anthropic’s substantial Lambda agreement follows closely on reports that the AI lab recently secured a $45 billion capacity deal with UK-based neocloud Nscale for its forthcoming West Virginia campus.
Anthropic has been aggressively scaling its compute infrastructure, reportedly executing more than a dozen letters of intent for data center leases with various U.S. developers. In addition to physical space, the company has heavily leveraged cloud providers for processing power, committing to rent over 10 GW of servers to date. This includes a landmark $200 billion agreement with Google. Past major cloud partnerships include Akamai, Amazon Web Services (notably securing a massive cluster of AWS’s custom Trainium hardware), CoreWeave, and a $50 billion collaboration with AI cloud firm Fluidstack.
Since confidentially filing for an initial public offering (IPO) in June, Anthropic has reportedly finalized a $19 billion agreement with TeraWulf for a Kentucky data center, entered discussions for a major leasing arrangement with Meta, closed a $9.1 billion deal with Riot Platforms, and is positioned to secure capacity from a new data center provider known as Theseus Infrastructure. Meanwhile, Lambda itself is preparing for a public listing; last week, the company was reported to be seeking to raise up to $3 billion ahead of its own IPO plans. Founded in 2012, Lambda provides GPU-based cloud compute and operates 15 data centers across the United States, according to its official website.
