Lumus, a pioneer in reflective geometric waveguide technology for augmented reality eyewear, announced a new licensing agreement with Quanta Computer Inc., a global technology manufacturing leader and long-standing supply chain partner, to produce its next generation of thinner and easier-to-manufacture waveguides. The deal builds on nearly a decade of collaboration that began with Quanta’s investment in Lumus in 2016, advancing the technology from early development to scalable manufacturing. Under the agreement, Quanta will manufacture Lumus’s upcoming thin waveguides, specifically the Z-30 2.0 and A-Lens models available in 30-degree and 50-degree fields of view.

The Z-30 2.0 waveguide provides a 30-degree field of view in a reduced-size optical engine with increased brightness and direct prescription lens bonding capability. Meanwhile, the new A-Lens waveguides, offered in both 30-degree and 50-degree designs, are engineered for lower-cost production, weighing approximately half as much and measuring roughly half the thickness of previous generations while maintaining Lumus’s signature image quality and efficiency. Together, these products highlight Lumus’s ongoing commitment to shrinking the size, weight, and manufacturing costs of AR optics without sacrificing the performance needed for consumer and enterprise devices.
