On August 13, 2026, LG and NVIDIA signed a memorandum of understanding at NVIDIA headquarters in Santa Clara, California, with LG Corp Chairman and CEO Kwang Mo Koo and NVIDIA Founder and CEO Jensen Huang in attendance. This agreement marks a decisive shift from strategic planning to full-scale execution across robotics, AI factories, and mobility. Under the partnership, LG will validate its CLOiD wheel-based robots at its Tennessee washing machine manufacturing line, build AI factory reference sites utilizing NVIDIA DSX and NVIDIA Vera Rubin, and develop a next-generation AI-defined vehicle platform based on NVIDIA DRIVE Hyperion.
In the robotics sector, LG is developing a next-generation bipedal humanoid robot scheduled for public unveiling in the first quarter of next year. The robot will run on NVIDIA Jetson Thor for onboard compute and control, utilize NVIDIA Isaac GR00T as its open reasoning foundation model, and incorporate NVIDIA Halos for Robotics for comprehensive safety. LG will integrate One LG capabilities across LG Electronics, LG Innotek, and LG Energy Solution to supply actuators, sensors, and batteries. Later this year, LG will deploy CLOiD wheel-based robots at its Tennessee facility for real-world validation before expanding to global production sites, homes, and commercial spaces. To support these efforts, LG CNS PhysicalWorks will power a robot data factory for continuous data collection, synthetic data generation, training, and verification. This experience will also enhance LG's in-house Robot Foundation Model, which remains under development alongside active use of NVIDIA Isaac GR00T. A joint Task Force comprising technical and business experts will oversee R&D, site validation, and commercialization.
For AI infrastructure, LG is deploying the NVIDIA DSX AI factory architecture combined with One LG capabilities covering thermal management, power, design, and operations. LG plans to construct an AI factory reference site powered by NVIDIA Vera Rubin in the first half of 2027, followed by an 80 MW scale LG AI Factory in Cheonan, Chungcheongnam-do, by the first half of 2028 to advance physical AI and robot foundation models. These projects will validate a complete end-to-end AI factory solution spanning design, construction, and operations. LG intends to monetize these efforts by offering validated, turnkey One LG package solutions to global big tech customers, aiming to capture expanded opportunities in the global AI infrastructure market.
In the automotive space, LG will develop a high-performance computing platform for next-generation AI-Defined Vehicles built on NVIDIA DRIVE Hyperion. This platform will merge NVIDIA's autonomous driving technologies with LG's existing in-vehicle infotainment and automotive software expertise. By expanding from traditional components into the autonomous driving domain, LG aims to deliver integrated solutions that combine autonomous driving features with in-cabin AI services to global OEMs, unlocking new growth in future mobility.
