블룸버그는 급속한 AI 데이터센터 건설이 토지 이용 및 환경 문제와 관련해 미국 지자체 전반에서 광범위한 공공의 반발을 촉발하고 있다고 보도했다.
The U.S. administration’s plans to accelerate construction of data centers required for artificial intelligence development are facing opposition from many Americans, Bloomberg reports, citing sources and public opinion polls.
Proponents of artificial intelligence among U.S. officials believe the technology will be crucial to the future growth of the country’s economy.
However, further AI development requires the construction of large-scale data centers. Bloomberg notes that concerns are growing among Americans that such facilities could significantly increase electricity demand, place additional pressure on power grids, and ultimately drive up energy prices.
According to a Fox News poll released in late July, seven out of ten American voters said they would not support the construction of an AI data center near where they live.
Bloomberg also notes that U.S. President Donald Trump regularly highlights the country’s achievements in artificial intelligence and actively supports the development of new data centers.
