Compute infrastructure providers led a broad market rally, with Keel Infrastructure Corp., formerly Bitfarms, posting the strongest performance at a 29.13% gain to trade at $4.10 per share, up $0.92 by 2 p.m. ET on Thursday. Nebius Group N.V. followed closely, adding 28.52% to reach $190.50. Cipher Digital Inc. climbed 28.30%, while IREN Limited rose 27.36% to $37.33. The momentum extended well beyond the sector leaders: Whitefiber gained 27.35%, SharonAI Holdings added 26.86%, and Bloom Energy rose 26.04%. Sandisk Corporation surged $244.33 per share, a 24.05% jump that pushed its valuation above $1,260.

Mining and high-performance computing equities posted equally robust gains. Riot Platforms advanced 23.46% to $22.52, Bitdeer Technologies rose 21.91%, and Coreweave climbed 21.83% to $74.10. Core Scientific added 20.97%, Hut 8 gained 20.69% to trade at $106.43, and Cleanspark rose 20.23%. Terawulf added 19.44%, Applied Digital gained 19.07%, and Solaris Energy Infrastructure climbed 18.94%. MARA Holdings and Cerebras Systems each finished up 18.60%. In the industrial and semiconductor space, EMCOR Group advanced 18.27%, narrowing the gap with Babcock & Wilcox, which closed up 18.02%. Micron Technology rose 17.40%, HIVE Digital Technologies added 17.35%, and Galaxy Digital rounded out the top performers with a 17.27% gain. Although many of these firms operate as bitcoin (BTC) miners, each maintains direct exposure to the artificial intelligence, semiconductor, or high-performance computing sectors.

Several catalysts converged to drive Thursday’s surge. A portion of the move stemmed from the forced liquidation of public equity holdings by a hedge fund founded by a former OpenAI researcher, which maintained large positions across multiple of the day’s top gainers. Citadel absorbed the majority of the distressed portfolio in a single transaction, a maneuver market participants noted effectively eliminated a looming source of selling pressure. Simultaneously, bitcoin traded between $64,000 and $65,000 during the session, providing a baseline tailwind to mining equities that remain sensitive to the asset’s price despite their growing reliance on AI computing contracts. Broader market sentiment was further buoyed by Microsoft’s latest earnings report, released on July 30, 2026. The tech giant’s shares rallied after results demonstrated that its massive AI capital expenditures were beginning to yield measurable returns, lifting Nasdaq-wide optimism and pulling AI infrastructure names higher alongside it.

Coreweave also benefited from a company-specific catalyst, announcing a strategic collaboration with Leidos to deliver AI cloud services to the U.S. Intelligence Community and the Department of War. Under the arrangement, Coreweave’s computing infrastructure will be deployed within classified facilities, while Leidos manages security accreditation and mission integration. The parties did not disclose a contract value, and the partnership remains contingent on the execution of definitive agreements.

Thursday’s performance reflects a deeper, structural transformation within the industry. As bitcoin mining profitability contracted following successive halving events and escalating network difficulty, publicly traded miners have systematically repurposed their power-intensive operations into AI data centers. These companies possess a decisive advantage: they already control prime real estate, dedicated electrical substations, and long-term power agreements that independent data center developers would require years to secure. This pivot is accelerating through concrete commercial activity. Hut 8 recently executed a second 15-year lease valued at $9.8 billion for its Beacon Point campus in Texas. IREN disclosed $2.8 billion in new AI cloud contracts and elevated its 2026 revenue forecast beyond $4 billion. Earlier this year, Terawulf finalized a long-term leasing agreement with Anthropic.

Strategic realignment continues across the sector. Keel Infrastructure has redirected its capital toward digital and energy infrastructure tailored for AI workloads, highlighted by a recently approved data center development in Quebec. Nebius has repeatedly upgraded its power capacity guidance and attracted investment from Nvidia. Meanwhile, upstream suppliers and enablers are capturing disproportionate value: Sandisk and Micron provide the critical memory architecture that AI clusters require, operating in a market where demand consistently outstrips supply. Bloom Energy manufactures fuel cells increasingly deployed for data center power, while Cerebras designs specialized AI accelerator chips. On the construction side, EMCOR and Babcock & Wilcox are positioned to capitalize on the physical buildout required to support this infrastructure expansion.

Despite the recent upside, the sector remains highly volatile. The same financial leverage that propelled AI infrastructure valuations higher earlier this year triggered severe drawdowns throughout July prior to Thursday’s rebound. Fundamental uncertainties persist regarding capital expenditure requirements, grid connectivity constraints, and the sustainability of long-term AI demand across many of these business models. Currently, the market is pricing bitcoin miners with established, grid-connected power assets as a distinct subsector within the broader AI investment thesis. The durability of today’s gains will ultimately hinge on execution: specifically, how many of these companies can successfully convert contracted power capacity into predictable, recurring revenue streams over the coming quarters.
