Core Scientific partners with AMD for major AI data center infrastructure deal worth up to $14 billion, scaling from initial 500 MW to up to 2.5 GW capacity with warrant equity stake (30M CORZ shares).
AMD and Core Scientific announced an AI infrastructure partnership designed to expand the AMD ecosystem, with AMD expected to secure up to 2.5GW of data centre capacity to support end customer deployments of its solutions. The companies will collaborate on physical infrastructure design and deployment of AMD Instinct GPUs, EPYC CPUs, and ROCm software. The alliance also supports Core Scientific's transition from cryptocurrency toward AI and high-performance computing workloads.

The agreement secures AMD more than 500MW of U.S. capacity beginning in 2027. By expanding access to Core Scientific's AI-ready infrastructure, AMD expects to enable its customers to deploy AI solutions faster and at greater scale. Addressing the accelerating demand for AI compute, AMD emphasized the criticality of access to land, power, and data centre infrastructure. Strong partnerships with infrastructure experts who can support the scale and power requirements are essential for the next phase of AI development.

As part of the agreement, AMD will receive market-priced warrants to purchase Core Scientific common stock, subject to certain commercial conditions.
The announcement follows a series of AMD AI-infrastructure announcements. AMD released its first jointly developed reference design for the AMD Helios rackscale platform with Schneider Electric, aimed at accelerating deployment of high-density AI infrastructure. Supermicro introduced a new H15 server portfolio with AMD CPUs designed to deliver stronger performance improvements. AMD has also reportedly considered a multi-year CPU purchase commitment with Intel to lock in pricing as AI demand drives up costs and increases shortages. AMD currently powers 41% of new Top500 systems and more than half of Green500's top 50.
