Nye County, Nevada residents given public hearing on proposed large-scale data center campus; siting process ongoing.

Nye County leaders are giving residents an opportunity to learn more about a proposed data center development in the region. Manse Technology Group plans to build a next-generation technology campus in Pahrump, with construction anticipated to begin in 2027, pending approvals.

The Nye County Board of Commissioners will host a town hall on Saturday, July 25, at 10 a.m. at the Nye County Commissioners & Administration office at 2100 Walt Williams Drive. Residents will have the chance to learn about the proposed development, and representatives from Manse Technology Group will attend to address local questions and concerns.

The project, formerly known as Project Blackjack, encompasses approximately 900 acres and represents a $18.4 billion privately financed investment designed to attract world-class data center and technology facilities while creating long-term economic opportunities for Nye County. At full buildout, the campus is expected to become one of the county's largest taxpayers, generating tens of millions of dollars annually in property taxes, supporting thousands of construction and permanent jobs, and providing significant funding for schools, public safety, infrastructure, and other essential public services.

Currently, Nye County has a temporary moratorium on new data center developments until stricter regulations are adopted. At a recent commission meeting, officials considered an ordinance to completely ban these facilities in Pahrump, but the measure did not advance. The proposal comes amid growing scrutiny of data center expansion in Southern Nevada, including recent protests by residents against AI data centers and a Henderson City Council decision to decline a 180-day pause on new data center applications, instead exploring the creation of a development agreement that data centers would need to follow.
