Energy infrastructure AI platform Karman (formerly known as Utilidata) has partnered with French industrial group Legrand to integrate Karman into its data center power distribution product lines.

According to the companies, the integration will cover Legrand's intelligent AC rack PDUs and DC power shelves, which Legrand says are designed for high-density AI data centers.

Karman's platform uses AI to give grid operators and data center firms real-time visibility into their power systems. It identifies and manages distributed energy resources, which the company says enhances resiliency and reduces the need for future infrastructure investment. The platform can integrate with smart meters, providing AI solutions for utility companies and their customers.

Karman developed the platform using a custom version of the Nvidia Jetson Orin Nano, which the company says provides 100 times the processing power of other meter-based solutions. The platform can connect to millions of endpoints and coordinate them to monitor and respond to real-time conditions.

According to the partners, the deployment could allow Legrand's data center customers to power more compute and generate 50 percent or more AI tokens using the same provisioned power.

"By partnering with Karman, Legrand continues to demonstrate its technological leadership and innovation by delivering additional value to data center operators," said Swen Anderson, CTO of Legrand Data Power and Control Division.

"We're providing data centers with the tools to unlock stranded power and deliver measurable competitive advantages and increased revenue."

"Power continues to be the primary limiting factor to data center capacity expansion. Yet, a large portion of provisioned power in data centers goes untapped," added Josh Brumberger, CEO of Karman. "This partnership with Legrand changes that. By embedding Karman into Legrand's power distribution products, data center operators can now utilize that power to expand capacity immediately, while reducing the price per GPU hour."

Karman was rebranded earlier this month, having previously operated under the name Utilidata.

In June, the firm raised $60.3 million in Series C funding to scale its platform. The round was led by Renown Capital Partners, with participation from Quanta, Nvidia, and existing investor Keyframe Capital.
