Microsoft's Mount Pleasant data center in Wisconsin became fully operational on June 23, marking the completion of the company's first hyperscale facility in the state. The data center, which finished equipment deployment and activation in April, currently employs approximately 550 full-time workers.

The facility represents the initial phase of a broader expansion commitment. Microsoft and its contractors are actively recruiting and expect headcount to grow beyond current levels as operations scale.

The Wisconsin project reflects Microsoft's substantial infrastructure investment strategy. The company plans to deploy $4.7 billion toward hyperscale construction projects across Wisconsin through 2028, positioning the state as a key node in its cloud and AI infrastructure footprint.
