Armenia announced a $25 million procurement of AI computing power, marking nation-level adoption of cloud-based AI infrastructure for economic development.

Armenia's government will acquire $25 million worth of high-performance artificial intelligence computing resources from Firebird AI for a five-year period. Minister of High-Tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan announced the initiative on Facebook, stating that the resources will support startups, research teams, educational institutions, and individual specialists working in artificial intelligence.

The computing resources will be distributed through the Artificial Intelligence Virtual Institute (AIVI), launched by Armenia's Ministry of High-Tech Industry as an open platform for innovation and collaboration. As Minister Hayrapetyan explained, "This program aims to support startups, research groups, educational institutions, and individual professionals engaged in artificial intelligence by providing high-performance computing resources for the design, training, and deployment of AI systems." Within this strategic initiative, AIVI will serve as the operational platform for receiving applications, identifying applicants, and distributing computing resources, while also functioning as a virtual space for communication and cooperation among AI innovators.

The broader infrastructure project supporting this initiative is substantial in scale. Leading banks and investment institutions have provided $300 million in financing to Firebird AI for the construction of an AI factory in Hrazdan, implementing a strategic memorandum signed in Washington on August 8, 2025. The data center is being built through cooperation between Firebird, NVIDIA, Dell Technologies, and the Armenian government, utilizing advanced technological solutions from U.S. company NVIDIA. The facility is expected to become the most powerful AI data center in the region.
