Armenia announced a $25 million commitment to purchase AI computing power capacity.

Armenia's government will acquire $25 million worth of high-performance artificial intelligence computing resources from Firebird AI for a five-year period, according to an announcement made by Minister of High-Tech Industry Mkhitar Hayrapetyan. The resources are intended to support startups, research teams, educational institutions, and individual specialists working in artificial intelligence.

The computing resources will be distributed through the Artificial Intelligence Virtual Institute (AIVI), launched by the Ministry of High-Tech Industry of Armenia as an open platform for innovation and collaboration. As the minister explained, "This program aims to support startups, research groups, educational institutions, and individual professionals engaged in artificial intelligence by providing high-performance computing resources for the design, training, and deployment of AI systems." Within this framework, AIVI will serve as the operational platform for receiving applications, identifying applicants, and distributing computing resources, while also functioning as a virtual space for communication and cooperation among AI innovators.

This initiative is part of a larger strategic project to establish a modern artificial intelligence data center in Armenia. Leading banks and investment institutions have joined forces to provide $300 million in financing to Firebird AI for the construction of an AI factory in Hrazdan, implementing a strategic memorandum signed in Washington on August 8, 2025. The data center will be built through cooperation between Firebird, NVIDIA, Dell Technologies, and the Armenian government, utilizing advanced technological solutions from U.S. company NVIDIA, and is expected to become the most powerful in the region.
