Enetron Park secures zoning approval for 250MW data center in Pyhäjoki, Finland, overriding local government opposition.
Finnish developer Enetron Park has announced approval of its zoning initiative for a 250MW data center in Pyhäjoki, Finland, with construction set to begin in early 2028. However, according to minutes from Pyhäjoki municipality's local government board meeting, the project was rejected in a 5-2 vote.
In its announcement, Enetron described the facility as a data center and energy campus. The local government cited the absence of a general or local plan for the project area as grounds for rejection.
According to comments from Enetron Park manager Jarmo Keto, local media has reported that the project is unlikely to proceed in Pyhäjoki.
Pyhäjoki is a municipality on the Finnish west coast in the Northern Ostrobothnia region. The area is attracting other data center developers: Damac's Hyperco is also planning a facility there, and in September, Finnish cloud company Verda (Verda Cloud) detailed plans for a data center project in the Hanhela area of Pyhäjoki municipality.
DCD has contacted representatives from Enetron Park and Pyhäjoki municipality for comment and clarification.
