Skybox and Prologis file for their fourth data center in Hutto, Texas, positioned to be the largest facility yet at the campus.
Skybox and Prologis have filed to develop a fourth data center in Hutto, a town northeast of Austin, Texas. The companies this week submitted an application with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation for Skybox Hutto 4, a single-story core-and-shell building planned for 3399 County Road 132 in Williamson County.
The facility will span 846,300 square feet and carry a $550 million investment. Construction is scheduled to run from January 2027 through October 2028. Hutto Data Center Campus, LLC—an affiliate sharing Prologis' address—is listed as the site owner.
Located roughly 28 miles northeast of downtown Austin, Hutto is emerging as a significant data center hub for the partnership. Skybox filed initial plans for Hutto 1 in October 2023, followed by Hutto 2 in April 2024 and Hutto 3 in May 2024. Hutto 4 will be substantially larger than the first three: Hutto 1 and 2 are each 235,720 square feet, while Hutto 3 reaches 492,350 square feet. The earlier buildings are designed as two-story facilities, whereas Hutto 4 is planned as a single story.
These four data centers are part of Skybox and Prologis' PowerCampus, a broader development initiative planned to deliver 600 megawatts of IT capacity across 3.88 million square feet.
Skybox and Prologis began their partnership in early 2021, converting an underutilized warehouse owned by Prologis in Chicago, Illinois, into a data center. The two companies have since collaborated on multiple projects. Beyond the Hutto cluster, Skybox operates data centers across Austin, Dallas, Houston, and Wichita Falls in Texas, competing with developers including Iron Mountain and Colovore, which are also expanding in the Hutto area.
