SpaceX has signed another major compute capacity contract for its data centers. CFO Bret Johnson announced during the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference 2026 that the company's annual income from compute deals now totals $41.1 billion, following the addition of a new contract valued at $13.3 billion annually—or $1.11 billion per month. Revenue from the new hosting agreement for an unnamed AI customer will begin in December 2026, making it SpaceX's fourth major AI capacity agreement this year.

The company's compute portfolio has expanded significantly. Existing agreements include contracts with Anthropic ($1.25 billion per month), Google Cloud ($920 million per month), and Reflection AI ($150 million per month). In July 2026, SpaceX was also reported to be in talks with the Department of Defense regarding a compute deal for the Pentagon that could be worth billions of dollars.

SpaceX's data center expansion is accelerating to meet demand. As of June 30, 2026, the company had approximately 1.4 gigawatts of data center capacity operational, with targets to reach 2 gigawatts by year-end and nearly 10 gigawatts by the end of 2027. The company operates Colossus 1 and 2 data centers in Memphis, Tennessee, has a third facility under development in Southaven, and has begun construction on a fourth data center near Memphis.

This shift represents a significant evolution for xAI, SpaceX's AI subsidiary. Originally focused on developing its own large language model, Grok, the company initially used Colossus's compute capacity internally. Following the Anthropic deal announcement, CEO Elon Musk revealed that SpaceX was actively pursuing external data center compute customers. SpaceX went public in June 2026, with its valuation reaching close to $3 trillion shortly after its IPO. The company currently maintains a market capitalization of $2 trillion.
