Qualcomm announces AI data center CPU and Meta as its first major customer, alongside a new AI accelerator roadmap challenging incumbent GPU architectures.
At its Investor Day, Qualcomm unveiled a comprehensive data center roadmap featuring the Dragonfly C1000 CPU, High Bandwidth Compute (HBC) technology, the Dragonfly AI300 inference accelerator, and custom silicon offerings. The company also announced a CPU deal with Meta as part of these initiatives.
The announcements underscore Qualcomm's competitive push against Nvidia in the AI data center market, which is undergoing significant shifts as AI inference workloads increasingly dominate. Qualcomm has positioned efficiency for AI agents as a central pillar of its strategy.
The Dragonfly AI300 represents the next generation in Qualcomm's annual roadmap, following the AI200 and AI250 accelerators. Supporting these hardware efforts, Qualcomm previously announced its acquisition of Modular, a move designed to strengthen its software capabilities and complement its hardware offerings.
