SK Hynix has canceled Solidigm's IPO, and AI infrastructure stocks slid in response.
AI infrastructure stocks have had a rough month. Companies such as CoreWeave, Nebius, and IREN have dropped more than 30% in October. The slump has been severe enough that SK Hynix has canceled its planned IPO for Solidigm, citing unpredictable markets.
Larger players are also feeling the pressure. Meta, Oracle, and NVIDIA are among those affected as credit risk signals have reached record highs. The Nasdaq fell 0.7% this week, dragged down by major names including Alphabet, Microsoft, and Amazon. Investors are now questioning whether the enormous spending on AI will ultimately pay off.
Some analysts estimate that up to 80% of neoclouds could disappear or merge by 2030 if conditions do not improve. Meanwhile, Meta's stock fell 7% after it disclosed a significant cash flow gap, despite its solid credit ratings.
The developments have raised broader questions about the financial stability of major technology companies as they commit substantial resources to AI.
