CoreWeave Inc. (CRWV) recently secured a multi-year agreement with Hudson River Trading (HRT), a top-tier quantitative trading firm, to build its next-generation AI-driven research and model-development platform. The deployment will leverage NVIDIA’s (NVDA) Vera Rubin infrastructure, specifically the Vera Rubin NVL72 platform and Spectrum-X Ethernet networking. HRT’s decision to utilize CoreWeave’s AI cloud platform underscores how specialized AI infrastructure is becoming a critical component of next-generation quantitative research.

A defining feature of the agreement is HRT’s planned reliance on NVIDIA’s Vera Rubin architecture. Designed for next-generation large-scale AI workloads—particularly reasoning, inference, and agentic AI—the Vera Rubin NVL72 integrates 72 Rubin GPUs with 36 Vera CPUs and utilizes NVIDIA’s latest high-bandwidth interconnect technologies. CoreWeave has already established an early-mover advantage with this platform, announcing in June that it completed the industry’s first bring-up and validation of the Vera Rubin NVL72. By abstracting away infrastructure complexity, CoreWeave simplifies client access to NVIDIA’s newest architectures while effectively monetizing each successive generation of hardware.

The HRT contract also expands CoreWeave’s footprint within the financial services sector. Quantitative trading firms such as Jane Street, IMC, and Flow Traders have already adopted CoreWeave’s infrastructure, signaling strong potential for broader institutional adoption. Despite these positive developments, CoreWeave continues to face competitive pressures. Hyperscalers like Microsoft Azure (MSFT) and specialized rivals such as Nebius Group N.V. (NBIS) are simultaneously investing heavily in advanced AI infrastructure. Nevertheless, the multi-year HRT agreement reinforces CoreWeave’s growing enterprise AI demand, its specialized infrastructure edge, and improved revenue visibility.

Like CoreWeave, Nebius is deepening its partnership with NVIDIA. In June, the company announced plans to invest approximately £1.7 billion to expand AI compute capacity across the United Kingdom. This capital allocation funds three new deployments of advanced NVIDIA-powered infrastructure. Following the launch of its first UK deployment of NVIDIA Blackwell Ultra infrastructure in late 2025, Nebius now intends to establish three additional sites nationwide, rolling out the latest iterations of NVIDIA’s full-stack AI factory platform technology. Once fully operational in 2027, these facilities are projected to deliver 65 megawatts of AI computing capacity. To bolster its standing in the rapidly evolving AI cloud market, Nebius also acquired Eigen AI in May.

Meanwhile, Microsoft continues to capitalize on AI business momentum, Copilot adoption, and Azure cloud infrastructure expansion. In July, the company launched MAI-Cyber-1-Flash, its inaugural cybersecurity-specialized AI model, alongside a new agentic security platform called Project Perception. Microsoft claims that when paired with OpenAI’s GPT-5.4 inside its MDASH vulnerability management harness, the model achieves a 96% score on the CyberGym benchmark at half the cost of its existing MDASH configuration. Coupled with multi-model flexibility and continued access to OpenAI’s frontier models under an intellectual property arrangement extending through 2032, Microsoft enables customers to optimize both cost and performance while maintaining its central role in their AI infrastructure strategies.

CoreWeave shares have risen 25.3% year to date, outperforming the Internet Software industry’s decline of 5.6%. On valuation metrics, CRWV trades at a price-to-book ratio of 8X, compared to the Internet Software Services industry average of 4.35X. Over the past 60 days, the Zacks Consensus Estimate for CRWV’s current-year earnings has been revised downward. The stock currently holds a Zacks Rank of #3 (Hold). The AI revolution has already created significant wealth, but the most widely recognized stocks may not sustain the highest returns. As AI’s second wave shifts from infrastructure development to practical implementation, select companies are positioned at the forefront of this transition, potentially emerging as the defining platforms of this era much like Amazon and Google did during the internet boom.
