Lenovo and MemryX expand Edge AI platform deployment in Saudi Arabia with two additional installations in the Kingdom.

AI chip startup MemryX and Lenovo have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to deploy locally operated Edge AI solutions across Saudi Arabia in support of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 strategy. The partnership builds on joint platform deployments already operating in the country and establishes a framework for pursuing opportunities in infrastructure, industrial operations, smart cities, and video management.

The joint platform combines Lenovo's ThinkEdge SE455 V3 rugged edge server with MemryX's Cascade 100P AI accelerator to process video and sensor data at the source. This approach allows organizations to reduce latency, maintain greater control over their data, and decrease reliance on centralized, power- and cooling-intensive AI infrastructure.

The platform is already operating in large-scale programs across Saudi Arabia. One unnamed customer has deployed the system to deliver real-time construction safety analytics, including personal protective equipment compliance monitoring and site safety event detection. A second deployment operates in a port environment, running compliance and site-monitoring workloads across existing camera infrastructure without disrupting operations.

The two companies also intend to explore rack-scale server configurations for computer vision inference, supporting potential regional and global go-to-market opportunities.

Vision 2030, an ambitious modernization initiative launched in 2016, aims to diversify the economy away from oil dependence and establish the Kingdom as a technology hub. MemryX has raised $44 million in a Series B funding round and has secured $63 million in total funding to support technology development.
