Infineon은 Intel의 보수적인 가이던스가 반도체 주식을 압박하는 가운데에도 GaN 및 AI 전력 네트워크를 확장했다.
Infineon's shares fell 4.5% on Friday, caught in a broad retreat across semiconductor equities after Intel's downbeat outlook and fresh concerns over AI spending rattled the sector. According to Reuters, the selloff swept through technology names in the US and Asia as well as European chipmakers, with Infineon explicitly among those hit.
The trigger was Intel's guidance for the fourth quarter of 2026: revenue of USD 15 to 16 billion, against analyst expectations of USD 17.1 billion, according to media reports. Those reports also pointed to worries about the AI investments of major cloud companies following Amazon's results as an additional drag on sentiment.
Away from the market turmoil, Infineon opened a new office and laboratory building in Warstein on Wednesday, designed to house around 350 employees. The new structure includes roughly 1,200 square metres of laboratory space. The site expansion sits alongside several announced projects in power semiconductors and applications for AI data centres.
At the Austrian site in Villach, Infineon plans to invest around EUR 1.1 billion through 2034 to establish what it describes as the world's first high-volume manufacturing of GaN power semiconductors on 300-millimetre wafers. Production is scheduled to begin by the end of 2027. Company statements indicate EUR 319 million in funding is earmarked for the project under the European Chips Act.
On 21 October, Infineon and NVIDIA broadened their collaboration to GaN-based power conversion systems intended for 800-volt DC architectures in AI data centres. The partnership centres on the power supply for those facilities.
Infineon is also involved in talent development. On 22 October, UnternehmerTUM Accelerator, Microsoft, Infineon and NVIDIA jointly launched the Physical AI Growth Lab. The free, non-equity programme targets European start-ups in Physical AI, robotics and industrial AI, and runs from January to April 2027. Infineon is one of four partners behind the initiative.
Susquehanna reaffirmed its positive rating on Infineon on 21 October, although analyst Christopher Rolland cut his price target to EUR 85 from EUR 100. Infineon has provisionally scheduled 10 November for the release of its fourth-quarter and full-year 2026 results.
