Wärtsilä, Schneider Electric, and Stanley Consultants have developed an innovative Generator-to-Chip operating model for U.S. data center developers and operators, designed to accelerate the deployment of scalable power generation capacity. The coordinated approach combines on-site power, electrical infrastructure, and engineering to simplify construction and save time compared to traditional delivery methods.

The operating model is designed based on AI power loads and coordinates onsite power generation, power infrastructure, automation, and project planning and execution from the start. By bringing together all phases—from power generation and transmission to digital monitoring and IT workload management—the solution reduces shifts of responsibility, improves coordination at critical interfaces, and increases implementation reliability. An integrated solution speeds up project execution compared to traditional phased delivery models.

Demand for new data center capacity is growing rapidly in the U.S., driven by accelerating investments in artificial intelligence. However, long waiting times for grid connections and delays in critical infrastructure slow down project execution. Coordinated solutions that ensure reliable power supply regardless of location have become essential.

Wärtsilä's flexible modular engine power plants provide reliable onsite power generation that starts up quickly and scales as the data center's power demand increases. Schneider Electric provides integrated electrical architecture, automation solutions, and digital energy management solutions that align power generation with AI power loads. Stanley Consultants offers technical and non-technical consulting services across the entire data center lifecycle, including design and coordination, permitting process management, construction management, commissioning supervision, and climate resilience.

"Today, the timeline for many data center projects is determined by the availability of electricity," said Risto Paldanius, Vice President, Americas, at Wärtsilä Energy. "Developers need reliable solutions that can be designed, built, and delivered at the pace required by the growth of artificial intelligence. This innovative integrated solution model is a significant step forward: by bringing together our complementary capabilities from the start, we will be able to simplify and speed up implementation and reduce the transfer of responsibilities. Most importantly, our customers will benefit from a faster, clearer process from project planning to plant commissioning."

"The growth of AI will increase the scale and speed required of data center energy infrastructure," said Melton Chang, President of Power Systems at Schneider Electric. "When we design an energy solution for an AI data center, the starting point is a power load around which power generation, power infrastructure, automation solutions, and digital technologies are built into a single overall system. This provides data center developers with a scalable, grid-independent solution to accelerate the deployment of electricity-intensive AI capacity."

"We're excited to be part of a team focused on meeting customer goals and community needs," said Lance Sulzen, Vice President & Energy Market Leader at Stanley Consultants. "Integrated solutions help build functional, sustainable, and scalable data centers efficiently. A collaborative approach helps us identify risks, simplify interfaces, and build confidence in the entire delivery, from concept to deployment."
