Funding continues to accelerate across AI infrastructure. Last month alone, Crusoe raised a $3.9 billion Series F at a $30.9 billion valuation and Nscale secured $3.36 billion in new funding. Now GPU-cloud startup PaleBlueDot AI, which crossed the $1 billion valuation mark in January, has roughly tripled its valuation in eight months.

PaleBlueDot raised $200 million in a Series C led by ComputeCore, at a valuation of $3.2 billion. B Capital, the existing shareholder that led January's $150 million Series B at a "more than $1 billion" valuation, joined along with other global investors. The capital will fund additional compute capacity and expand geographic and hardware options for customers.

The company operates three distinct businesses. It runs self-owned GPU clusters customized for large or specialized workloads, operates a GPU marketplace offering on-demand compute from a global partner network, and provides a pay-as-you-go serverless inference service for developers and enterprises. The serverless inference offering is new since the Series B; previously the company operated the marketplace and dedicated clusters only.

PaleBlueDot's NVIDIA B300 cluster in Japan recently achieved NVIDIA Exemplar Cloud status, validating its performance against NVIDIA's reference benchmarks. As of end of September, the company reported more than $5 billion in signed customer contracts, with U.S. and Japanese customers representing over half of monthly revenue. This figure represents contract value rather than recognized revenue; the company has not disclosed actual revenue.

Beyond equity, the company secured a three-year, $255 million private note in July from Brookfield Asset Management and Tor Investment Management, with JPMorgan as placement agent. The financing refinanced an existing credit facility and supports expansion of AI infrastructure for enterprise customers.

Founded in 2024 by Jonathan Zhu and Shaodong Huang, PaleBlueDot raised a $10 million Series A from family offices. Zhu studied at Peking University and Stanford Graduate School of Business. In January, the company brought in enterprise-technology veteran Stephen Watts as CEO, shifting focus toward large customers and longer-term contracts. "We will continue to broaden our customer base, with a focus on frontier labs, Neolabs and enterprises in the U.S., and we will invest in our full-stack and go-to-market teams," Watts said. "Neolabs" is industry shorthand for research-first AI startups founded by researchers from major labs including OpenAI and DeepMind. PaleBlueDot operates across North America, Japan, South Korea, and Southeast Asia including Singapore, with enterprise customer deployments in Korea.

PaleBlueDot competes across three overlapping categories. In dedicated GPU clusters, CoreWeave leads after receiving a $2 billion NVIDIA investment in January to build 5 GW of AI factories by 2030; Lambda raised $1.5 billion in November last year, while Crusoe and Nscale both closed major rounds last month. In serverless inference and open-source model hosting, Together AI raised $800 million at an $8.3 billion valuation in July, Fireworks AI raised $1.5 billion, and Baseten pursued $1.5 billion at a $13 billion valuation. In GPU marketplaces, RunPod has raised its profile in Korea's AI ecosystem following a roughly 150 billion won ($100 million) investment. At $3.2 billion, PaleBlueDot's valuation sits below specialist inference players like Together AI and Baseten. The critical question is how quickly the company converts its reported $5 billion in contracts into actual revenue.
