UK operator Pure Data Centres has commenced construction on the second building at its Brent Cross campus in North London. The company announced this week that the final major build phase at its LON01 campus is underway, with general contractor Glencar beginning piling works for the West Shell of the 70MW LON01 B2 facility.

This second development phase will expand the campus by more than 23,000 sqm (247,570 sq ft), bringing total site capacity to 90MW. The wider B2 facility is scheduled for completion in Q2 2029. Designed to support high-density AI inference and cloud workloads, LON01 will feature closed-loop liquid cooling. Additionally, B2 will house one of the world’s largest living walls, incorporating more than 750,000 plants.

Glencar’s scope encompasses the delivery of the West Cold Shell, which includes piling and foundations, underground services, structural framing, and connections to the adjacent East Cold Shell. The contract also covers concrete and slab works, stair cores, the building envelope, and roofing.

“Piling commencement represents an important milestone in the continued development of our Brent Cross campus,” said Dan Priest, campus delivery director at Pure DC. “LON01B2 is a major part of our investment in London’s digital infrastructure, and it is encouraging to see the final stage of construction now progressing on site. Founded in 2015 and backed by funds managed by Oaktree Capital Management, Pure DC is a London-based company with more than 500MW of IT capacity currently in operation or under development across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. Its portfolio includes live and developmental projects in London, Paris, Amsterdam, Dublin, Abu Dhabi, Madrid, Jakarta, and Seinäjoki.

“Seeing piling get underway marks the transition into the structural phase of the programme,” added Roy Jones, managing director of London and the South at Glencar. “Delivering a project of this scale within a live and highly constrained data centre campus requires detailed planning, close collaboration and careful coordination across every stage.” Pure secured planning permission for the Brent Cross expansion last year and formally announced the plans earlier this year. The company is also developing a 56MW facility in Park Royal alongside Segro.
