LG Electronics joins NVIDIA's data-center networking alliance, targeting AI facility cooling solutions as the company repositions for data-center thermal-management growth.

LG Electronics has been officially named a "Preferred" partner in the Power and Cooling field of NVIDIA's Partner Network (NPN), following approval of its coolant distribution units (CDUs) that meet NVIDIA's specifications. The designation comes after LG secured NVIDIA compliance approval for its CDU lineup, including 600-kilowatt and 1-megawatt models, with its 2.5 megawatt-class CDU most recently approved as "DSX Ready CDU" in compliance with NVIDIA's AI factory specifications.

NPN consolidates hardware, software, services, and infrastructure partners around NVIDIA's AI computing platform, connecting solution providers with customers building AI data centers and "AI factories." Through this partnership, LG plans to broaden its market reach by proposing cooling solutions—chillers, CDUs, and cold plates—to customers deploying NVIDIA-based AI infrastructure. The company will also expand collaboration with global operators, gaining visibility from the planning and design stages of data centers.

Demand for liquid cooling solutions has accelerated as AI accelerators' power consumption and heat output continue to rise. CDUs supply and circulate coolant to remove heat generated directly from AI servers, complementing traditional air-based cooling approaches. LG entered the data center cooling market in 2011, initially supplying air-cooled and water-cooled chillers before expanding into CDUs and cold plates that directly absorb heat from AI semiconductor chips. The company's strategy centers on a "chip to chiller" solution that integrates chillers creating coolant, CDUs distributing it, and cold plates cooling chips directly.

LG plans to focus initial expansion on North America, targeting hyperscalers—ultra-large cloud operators—and colocation providers that lease data center space and facilities. Lee Jae-sung, president of LG Electronics' ES Business Division, stated: "With our inclusion in the NVIDIA Partner Network, we will expand our thermal management solutions business in the AI data center infrastructure market."
