Nscale's reported pursuit of approximately $3.5 billion in pre-IPO financing carries implications extending well beyond its prospective shareholders. Dell Technologies Inc. and Nokia Oyj already maintain commercial and investment ties to the AI infrastructure company, and stronger funding could help their customer accelerate execution. However, additional capital for Nscale would not automatically translate into revenue growth for either supplier.

Reuters reported the financing discussions on September 4, citing a person familiar with the matter. This remains a proposed transaction. Nscale's March 9 announcement of a $2 billion Series C round, which identified Dell and Nokia among its backers, established their earlier relationship with the company.

Dell described its Nscale collaboration in November 2025, specifying PowerEdge XE9712 servers, rack integration, and support deployed alongside NVIDIA's GB300 NVL72 platform. The commercial logic is straightforward: an expanding cloud operator requires systems assembled, delivered, and maintained at scale.

For Dell, the investment thesis rests on the premise that sufficient customer funding removes a major barrier between infrastructure planning and realized demand. The risk cuts the other way: revenue growth may consume working capital or come with compressed margins. A financing announcement provides no insight into Dell's actual margins, payment terms, or the incremental order value the company might capture.

Nokia became Nscale's preferred networking partner under a September 2025 agreement covering data center switching, IP routing, and optical networking solutions. These products route information within and between facilities, positioning Nokia to benefit from a distinct portion of Nscale's expansion budget.

For Nokia, successful deployments could expand its foothold in AI infrastructure architecture. Yet preferred status carries no exclusivity guarantee or commitment to a fixed purchase share. Dell's own documentation references additional networking suppliers as well. Nscale's continued growth therefore need not produce proportional increases in Nokia's revenues.

Both companies' investment positions introduce a complicating factor: suppliers can back a customer's development while simultaneously bearing investment risk. The disclosed relationships alone do not indicate whether future commercial returns will justify the capital deployed.

Insider Monkey's tracked worksheet sample showed 77 Dell holders among its monitored managers in Q2 2026, up from 72 in Q1, and 81 Nokia holders versus 66 in the prior quarter. These samples comprised 1,006 and 1,022 managers respectively. As of June 30, Rajiv Jain's GQG Partners held 1,110,030 Dell shares, while Arrowstreet Capital held 38,172,814 Nokia shares. These represent historical positions, not reactions to the financing discussions.
