Verisk, listed on Nasdaq under the ticker VRSK, announced the launch of the U.S. Data Center Exposure Database to assist insurers, reinsurers, and brokers in managing one of the fastest-growing concentrations of risk. The database provides building-level geocoding, facility footprints, physical characteristics, and operational attributes for more than 2,500 facilities across the United States. This release coincides with a surge in artificial intelligence-driven investment in digital infrastructure, with industry sources projecting that global data center insurance premiums could rise from approximately $10 billion in 2026 to $23 billion by 2030.
Data centers represent emerging critical infrastructure housing billions of dollars in physical assets while supporting essential business, government, and digital operations. Insurers frequently face challenges due to incomplete or inconsistent location data when evaluating exposure concentrations, catastrophe risk, and portfolio accumulations. To address this, Verisk developed the database to offer an in-depth view of this asset class. It includes rooftop-level geocoding, building footprint data, construction type, floor area, capacity, and operational redundancy characteristics, though available data fields and levels of detail may vary by facility and source. The dataset is delivered through flat-file records, building footprint shapefiles, and a 90-meter disaggregation grid to support advanced geospatial analytics and catastrophe modeling. It is designed to facilitate underwriting, exposure management, catastrophe analytics, and portfolio accumulation assessments within Verisk Synergy Studio and Touchstone.

The Verisk U.S. Data Center Exposure Database is now available to insurers, reinsurers, brokers, and other risk management organizations through Verisk’s catastrophe modeling software, specifically Verisk Synergy Studio and Touchstone.
