Traysar and Armada announced a partnership to develop Terminus, an underground AI data center facility addressing cooling and resilience challenges.
Subterranean defense technology company Traysar has partnered with edge computing specialist Armada to deploy sovereign AI infrastructure underground. Traysar has launched Terminus, a truck-mounted boring platform designed to enable underground infrastructure deployment. The collaboration combines Traysar's expertise in underground systems with Armada's modular data centers to develop integrated solutions supporting secure AI processing, command and control, communications, and other mission-critical workloads for the US.
The companies envision distributed underground deployments scaled into a Sovereign AI Grid, where critical workloads never depend on a single site. "The next generation of critical infrastructure cannot remain exposed," said Yadin Soffer, Traysar's co-founder and CEO. "Terminus transforms the Earth's crust into a protective layer for the systems America depends on most. By combining Traysar's ability to create and operate in underground environments with Armada's ability to deploy powerful AI infrastructure virtually anywhere, we are building a new standard for resilient compute—concealed, hardened, and ready to operate when surface infrastructure cannot."
Armada's modular edge data centers can be deployed wherever power is available and have been used by US military departments, including the US Navy during UNITAS. The company recently launched Orion, a 10MW model representing its largest offering to date. Its second-largest option, Leviathan, delivers 1.77MW of compute capacity.
"The future of AI infrastructure is distributed, sovereign, and resilient," said Dan Wright, Armada's co-founder and CEO. "The Sovereign AI Grid is built so that no critical workload depends on a single site. Terminus adds a new dimension. Together, we can put a fully sovereign, air-gapped AI node beneath the surface, close to the mission it supports, and keep it running when everything above ground cannot."
