Oracle has issued a force majeure notice on its power supply commitment for Project Jupiter, Stargate's AI data center in New Mexico.

Oracle issued a force majeure notice to the developer of Project Jupiter, a Stargate AI data center campus in New Mexico, Bloomberg reported. The notice allows Oracle to delay payments if the facility misses its 2028 target, though the company maintains it is not seeking to exit as the campus's primary tenant.

Oracle told CNBC that the project remains on schedule and that it is fully committed to New Mexico. Blue Owl Capital, whose unit received the notice, said the move does not change the financial commitments to the multi-year project.

The notice follows a series of setbacks, many linked to energy supply. The 2.45-gigawatt campus is designed to run on gas-powered fuel cells from Bloom Energy, but an Energy Transfer pipeline meant to serve the site has been pushed back nearly six months to February 1, 2027. Regulators have repeatedly denied permits, and the route was changed. An air-quality permit for the fuel cell system is also pending, with a state decision due by November 23.

Project Jupiter is a flagship site of Stargate, the AI infrastructure initiative launched by Oracle, OpenAI, and SoftBank with President Donald Trump. The campus has faced opposition from residents and environmental groups, and Oracle has launched a public outreach campaign in the state.
