From that trough, spending has accelerated dramatically: $94.96 million in FY2024, $729 million in FY2025, and $389 million in Q1 2026 alone, a pace that annualizes above $1.5 billion. Set against FY2025 revenue of $319 million, the FY2025 capex-to-revenue intensity ratio reaches roughly 229%. According to Traders Union analysis, intraday pressure briefly took the stock below its long-term moving average, with sellers controlling the tape throughout the session.

The bull case for Core Scientific rests on tangible assets: owned power infrastructure, operational megawatt capacity, and a contract pipeline built at a moment when AI compute demand structurally exceeds near-term supply. The bear case is equally concrete: capex running at multiples of revenue demands a financing cadence that dilutes shareholders, the $9 billion CoreWeave bid is no longer on the table as a backstop, and the company must prove that HPC hosting economics — pricing, utilization, margin — can close the gap to positive free cash flow within a credible timeframe.
