Taiwanese authorities have indicted nine individuals for allegedly illegally exporting Nvidia-chip servers to China.

Nine individuals were indicted on 24 August for the illegal export of artificial intelligence servers to China, Taiwanese prosecutors announced. The defendants are linked to Nvidia and Supermicro, as well as to Taiwanese distributors, trading companies, and data service providers.

Charges against eight of the nine defendants include breach of trust, document forgery, and special breach of trust under Taiwan’s Securities and Exchange Act. Prosecutors allege the network smuggled 74 servers containing Nvidia chips into China, routing portions of the shipments through Indonesia, Japan, and Hong Kong. An additional 56 servers were intercepted at Taiwan’s border.

The servers were equipped with Nvidia B300 (Blackwell Ultra) GPUs, which are subject to U.S. export controls that restrict the sale or export of cutting-edge silicon chips. Taiwan has also begun considering tighter domestic export controls to prevent advanced technology from reaching the mainland and to align with U.S. measures.

The case reflects ongoing challenges in governing the global AI and semiconductor supply chain and enforcing export-control regulations. Access to Nvidia products remains a determining factor in the AI race between China and the United States, with the alleged purchase of B300 GPUs underscoring how Nvidia’s Blackwell architecture remains a key option for AI training and real-time reasoning.
