Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection invites comments on a stormwater permit for a PECO Energy 230 kV transmission line and substation project crossing the Schuylkill River in Montgomery County.

The Department of Environmental Protection has invited public comment on an Individual Stormwater Permit for a PECO Energy Company project involving the installation of an electric substation and two 230 kV electric transmission lines crossing the Schuylkill River in Norriton and Bridgeport Boroughs, West Norriton and Upper Merion Townships, Montgomery County. The project was published in the PA Bulletin on September 26.

The work will disturb 32.55 acres and is not related to data center development. The new substation and transmission line relocation are designed to replace the existing Barbadoes Island Substation, which sits in an area prone to flooding—it is located within a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) mapped regulated floodway and is partially at end of life.

No hearing has been scheduled, though one may be requested. The comment period runs for 30 days from publication, with comments due by October 26.
